Download ImgSearch Images

download_images
Read-onlyIdempotent

Prepare the ImgSearch images you selected from search_images for download. Pass only the slugs you actually need. Nothing is counted by this call itself: downloads are unlimited for every verified account under a monthly fair-use limit, images the user already owns are always free to fetch, and a new image is recorded the moment it is actually fetched or saved. Fetch in priority order. If the account reaches the monthly fair-use limit, an individual file returns a blocked response; already-owned files always succeed. This call only returns nothing when the account cannot fetch a single file right now (unverified email, or the monthly fair-use limit reached and nothing already owned). On success every image returns a final file resource. Fetch it in the same turn and save it under its file_name. Never expose a per-file resource_url in chat. Every resource_url and download_url stays valid for 30 minutes. If a fetch fails because a link has expired, call download_images again with the same slugs for a fresh one — do not ask the user why, just regenerate it.

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations (readOnlyHint/idempotent/openWorldHint) by disclosing the monthly fair-use limit, that the call itself counts nothing, that already-owned files always succeed, that individual files can return blocked responses, and the exact conditions under which the call returns nothing. It also flags that per-file link lifetimes are 30 minutes and that recording happens on fetch, which carefully reconciles the apparent side-effect with readOnlyHint.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then layered: economics, failure modes, success handling, link lifetime. Every paragraph adds decision-relevant information with no filler, and the retry instruction is placed last where an agent needs it.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Very complete for a mutation-free fetch tool with an output schema: it explains blocked responses, the empty-return case, and downstream handling of files. Minor gap is not addressing how it relates to the sibling download_asset, which is the one open question left for an agent choosing between them.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is already 100% (1-30 unique slugs), so the schema carries the baseline. The description adds genuine semantics the schema cannot: slugs should be only what will actually be used, and their ordering acts as a priority order that matters when the fair-use limit is hit.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Prepare the ImgSearch images ... for download') and anchors the input to the sibling search_images by slug. An agent can tell immediately that this is the fulfillment step after searching, and the exclusion 'Pass only the slugs you actually need' reinforces the scope.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete operational when-to-use guidance: fetch in priority order, retry with the same slugs when a link expires, don't ask the user, and don't expose resource_url in chat. It does not, however, contrast itself with the sibling download_asset tool, so the alternative selection is left to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
