Prepare an asset download

download_asset
Read-onlyIdempotent

Prepare one selected SVG, SVG pack, brand logo, sound effect, 3D model or video from search_assets using its exact type and id. Nothing is counted at call time; a new download is recorded when the file is fetched. Every verified account can download every type, pack ZIPs and videos included, unlimited under a monthly fair-use limit. Re-downloads are free, and pack ZIPs never count toward the limit. Brands arrive as ZIPs with required license notices and sources. A 3D model arrives as one ZIP with GLB, FBX and OBJ versions and its licence. Local agents fetch resource_url, follow redirects and save using file_name. Web chat clients receive only download_url for a user browser click: never fetch that link yourself. Never claim the file is owned or saved merely because its link is ready. Previews are not licensed downloads.

TDQS

A4.8/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations, the description discloses that nothing is counted at call time and a download is recorded only when the file is fetched, plus fair-use limits, free re-downloads, and that pack ZIPs never count. It also explains the format of brands and 3D models, required license notices, and the warning not to claim ownership merely because a link is ready.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose and source are front-loaded, and the dense sentences each carry operational constraints. It is somewhat long, and the license-notice and 3D-model contents details are helpful but could be tightened; nevertheless, the structure is clear and mostly earns its length.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

There is no output schema, yet the description supplies the essential return semantics: resource_url for local agents, download_url for web clients, and file_name for saving. It also covers limits, ZIP packaging, license notices, and the distinction between prepared links and saved files, leaving little ambiguity for a three-parameter tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 67%, and the description adds meaningful semantics for type by explaining how brands and 3D models are delivered differently, and reinforces that id must be the exact value from search_assets. The background parameter is left to the schema, which is acceptable given its enum and description, but the description does not add extra guidance on it.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The first sentence states a specific verb and resource — prepare one selected asset from search_assets using its exact type and id — and enumerates the asset types, distinguishing it from search_assets and download_images. An agent can tell from this text alone that the call prepares a download rather than performing the file transfer.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description explicitly requires the exact type and id returned by search_assets, then gives differentiated downstream instructions: local agents should fetch resource_url, while web chat clients should only return download_url for a user click. It also explicitly excludes previews from licensed downloads and warns never to fetch the web link yourself, which is actionable when/when-not guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
