Claim next ready issue

next_ready_issue

A4.5/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations (which only say non-readOnly, non-destructive, non-idempotent) by disclosing atomic single-shot claiming with no races, priority/age ordering, null-on-empty return, and single-workspace queue consumption. These are exactly the mutation semantics an agent needs.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The core action and ordering are front-loaded, but the text is dense with some redundancy ('de una sola vez y sin carreras') and the agentCloseState explanation is tangential and ambiguous (not a listed parameter), adding noise to an otherwise efficient block.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a mutation tool with no output schema, the description covers the return value (claimed issue with context or null), the required follow-up (release_issue), close-state handling, and workspace/project scoping — everything needed to invoke and reason about results.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 0% schema coverage, the description must compensate and largely does: it explains workspaceId's default-from-credential behavior and one-workspace-only scope, and projectId's product/initiative expansion. It could still specify id format, and the agentCloseState tuple is referenced without tying it clearly to a parameter or return field.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a precise verb and resource: atomically pops and claims the next free issue from the 'ready-for-agent' queue. It defines the selection order (priority then oldest) and the return value (claimed issue or null), making it clearly distinguishable from a targeted claim_issue.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explains the full workflow — claim, work, release with release_issue — and clarifies workspaceId defaults and projectId scoping. It doesn't explicitly contrast with the sibling claim_issue (targeted claim), so the alternative-routing guidance is implied rather than stated.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
