TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false, and openWorldHint=true, so safety is covered. The description adds genuine behavioral context beyond that: the result set is paginated via nextPageToken, filterable by categoryId, and each item carries an image URL plus thumbnail. Auth requirements and rate limits remain undisclosed, keeping it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then mechanism, then use cases, in three tight sentences. The leading 'Get Place Photos' largely restates the title and is mildly redundant, but nothing else is wasted.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description compensates by stating what each returned photo contains, and it explains pagination and filtering. All parameters are optional and the mutual dataId/placeId requirement is handled by the schema, so little is missing; only error/edge behavior is absent.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description usefully ties categoryId to filtering and nextPageToken to pagination, but adds no format or syntax detail beyond the schema's own parameter descriptions.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (fetches) and resource (the photo gallery of a Google Maps place) plus the keying identifiers, so it is instantly distinguishable from siblings like getPlaceDetails, getMapReviews, and getMapPosts. An agent can tell what it returns (photos with image URL and thumbnail) without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete application scenarios (restaurant-menu extraction, venue/ambience audits, place detail pages, POI imagery sourcing) that make the intended use clear. However, it names no alternatives or exclusions, so an agent must infer when to prefer this over getPlaceDetails or getMapPosts rather than being routed explicitly.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
