List topic clusters

list_topic_clusters
Read-only

Use this when the user asks which topic clusters a property has, or which keywords define one. Lists topic clusters for a property. Each cluster groups a set of keywords under a name and is used by the dashboard to aggregate query-level metrics. Not for cluster traffic: use get_topic_cluster_performance. Sorted by name ascending.

TDQS

A4.4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false and openWorldHint=false, so the safety profile is free. The description adds genuinely new behavioral detail — deterministic ordering ("Sorted by name ascending") and the fact that clusters are the unit the dashboard aggregates query-level metrics by. It stops short of covering return shape or empty-result behavior, so a 4 rather than a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the usage trigger, then the definition, then the exclusion, then ordering — each sentence carries distinct information. The dashboard-aggregation sentence is the only borderline one, and it justifies why the caller should care about cluster structure.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Only one parameter, annotations cover safety, and an output schema exists so return values need not be spelled out. The remaining gap is that the description promises "which keywords define one" without clarifying whether the listing returns member keywords or only cluster names and counts.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0% for the single siteUrl parameter, so the schema alone gives no format guidance. The description only implies property scoping via "for a property" and never states how the property is identified. That is partial compensation for a coverage gap, not full compensation.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ("Lists topic clusters for a property") and then defines what a cluster is: a named group of keywords used for dashboard aggregation. This distinguishes it cleanly from create_topic_cluster, update_topic_cluster and get_topic_cluster_performance.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Opens with an explicit trigger ("Use this when the user asks which topic clusters a property has, or which keywords define one") and then names the exclusion plus the substitute: "Not for cluster traffic: use get_topic_cluster_performance." When-to-use, when-not, and the alternative are all present.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
