Bing top queries

get_bing_query_stats
Read-only

Use this when the user asks which Bing searches bring them traffic. Top Bing Webmaster Tools queries for a property, aggregated across the window (clicks, impressions, CTR as a 0-100 percentage, and impression-weighted average position). Not for Google queries: use query_top_queries; for one page use get_bing_page_queries. Bing reports only its top queries, dated by week: a window selects whole weeks, and the rows do not sum to get_bing_traffic_stats totals. Rows are sorted by clicks, then impressions, highest first. rowCount counts the rows returned (at most limit), totalRows the distinct queries Bing reported before that cut. Returns notConfigured: true when no Bing Webmaster API key is set up for the property.

TDQS

A4.9/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations only cover read-only/open-world, but the description discloses substantial extra behavior: Bing reports only top queries, data is dated by week so a window snaps to whole weeks, rows do not reconcile with get_bing_traffic_stats totals, sort order, and a notConfigured: true failure mode when no API key exists.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the trigger condition, then caveats, then sorting/count semantics and the error case. Dense but every sentence carries decision-relevant information; no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

An output schema exists, yet the description still clarifies the two ambiguous count fields and the notConfigured case, and the weekly-aggregation caveat prevents a common misreading of the results. Nothing an agent needs to select or call it correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 75% and already documents limit/startDate/endDate formats. The description adds real meaning on top: it explains that a date window selects whole weeks, that rowCount is capped by `limit` while totalRows is the pre-cut distinct query count, and the aggregation semantics of the window.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Top Bing Webmaster Tools queries for a property') and enumerates the returned metrics (clicks, impressions, CTR, average position). It is immediately distinguishable from Google-query and single-page siblings by name.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Opens with the exact user phrasing that should trigger it ('which Bing searches bring them traffic') and names both alternatives with their selecting conditions: query_top_queries for Google, get_bing_page_queries for a single page.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
