ExchangeRebel — pay-per-call APIs for AI agents (x402 on Solana)

pack_get

Compose one pre-computed Agent Data Core pack from the Layer 0 store: the pack's authored guidance plus, for every constituent, its pack-authored use-when line, verification state, and verbatim endpoints, with totals computed at compose time. An unknown pack id is answered free, before payment. Per-pack price (RULED): chain-reads $0.01 per call; web-evidence, company-diligence, market-intel and safety-preflight $0.05 per call — USDC on Solana via x402 (over MCP: call without payment to get the PaymentRequired challenge, then retry with the payment at _meta["x402/payment"]). HTTP equivalent: POST https://exchangerebel.com/toll/packs/{pack_id}.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations cover the safety profile (readOnlyHint=false, idempotentHint=false, destructiveHint=false), and the description adds what annotations cannot: paid, cost-bearing behavior with per-pack prices, USDC-on-Solana/x402 auth mechanics, and free handling of unknown ids. It does not cover failure modes such as expired or insufficient payment, which keeps it at 4.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then pricing and payment mechanics; nearly every clause carries actionable information. Minor drag from internal jargon ('(RULED)') and a dense parenthetical payment sentence, but no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a single-parameter tool with no output schema, the description covers return contents, pricing, payment protocol, HTTP equivalent and unknown-id handling. Remaining gaps (payment failure behavior, response envelope shape) are minor, and annotations already carry the mutation-safety profile.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With schema_description_coverage at 100% and only one parameter, the schema already enumerates the valid pack ids. The description adds one relevant datum — that an unknown pack id returns free before payment — but nothing about id format or discovery beyond the schema's reference to packs_catalog.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: 'Compose one pre-computed Agent Data Core pack from the Layer 0 store', and enumerates what the result contains (authored guidance, use-when line, verification state, endpoints, totals). It only implicitly differentiates from the sibling packs_catalog (the schema points there for id discovery), so it stops short of a 5.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete invocation guidance: unknown pack ids are answered free before payment, and the x402 flow ('call without payment to get the PaymentRequired challenge, then retry with the payment at _meta["x402/payment"]') is spelled out. It lacks an explicit 'call packs_catalog first to discover ids / use this only after choosing a pack' statement in the description itself.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
