Get a link for the person to view a private file

get_file_view_link

Get a link for the person to view a private file. Needs any of profile:read, content:read, inbox:read, bookings:read. Answers a link for the person to open on DJfindr, signed in as themselves; the act happens only there. Give them the url as it is and do not open it or pass it to anyone. Asking again replaces the link given before. get_link says whether it was used.

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations declare readOnlyHint=false, idempotentHint=false and destructiveHint=false, and the description earns credit by explaining that behavior beyond the hints: 'Asking again replaces the link given before' substantively accounts for the non-idempotent hint, and the required scopes ('profile:read', 'content:read', 'inbox:read', 'bookings:read') plus the 'act happens only there' constraint are not derivable from any structured field. Not disclosed are link expiry or whether the caller must own the file, which keeps this below a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose, then scopes, then handling rules, then the sibling pointer – a sensible order with no wasted sentences. Minor redundancy in 'for the person' repeating the title verbatim and in the slightly awkward clause 'the act happens only there.'

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

The safety and handling profile is well covered, and since no output schema exists the description usefully states that the return value is a url. However, for a link-generation tool it omits link lifetime/expiry and any hint about supplying file_id, gaps an agent would hit when actually calling it.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters2/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0% and the single parameter file_id is never mentioned, so the description adds nothing about its meaning, format, or where an agent obtains the ID (e.g. from get_file or a listing tool). For a 1-param tool this is mostly self-evident, but the description does no work to compensate for the empty schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Get a link ... to view a private file') and explicitly distinguishes the result from its nearest sibling by noting 'get_link says whether it was used.' An agent can separate this from get_file, get_upload_link, get_link and revoke_link without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear operating context: the link is for the recipient to open while signed in on DJfindr, the agent must pass the url unchanged and must not open or forward it, and re-asking replaces the previous link. It also names get_link as the tool to consult for usage status. What it lacks is any exclusion such as when to prefer get_file or download content directly.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
