Get Goals

get_goals
Read-only

The site's saved goals (Website Settings > Goals) with how many human and bot visitors completed each one in the window: type page (a path, * = any part), click (an outbound destination), event (a custom event name) or scroll (a scroll depth percent). Each row carries the goal id for the goal filter.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault

siteYes
filtersNoNarrow the report to the visits that match ALL of these (the dashboard's click-to-filter), inside the same window as the report. Omit for everything.

B3.4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and openWorldHint=false, so safety is covered. The description adds real context beyond that: results are scoped to a time window, counts are split into human and bot visitors, and each row exposes the goal id needed for downstream filtering. Missing only things like empty-result behavior or whether unconfigured goals appear.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The return content is front-loaded ('saved goals ... with how many human and bot visitors completed each one'), and the goal-type enumeration earns its place by defining ambiguous terms like 'page' and 'click'. The sentence is dense but has no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description does a fair job describing row content (goal id, human/bot counts, goal type). However, for a tool with a nested filter object and three window parameters, it leaves the agent guessing about how to scope the report and what happens when filters are omitted.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters2/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is only 40%, with five parameters including a nested filters object, so the description needs to compensate. It says only 'in the window', vaguely implying from/to/days, and never explains the filters object, the 'to' parameter, or how goal-type strings relate to filter values. The page/click/event/scroll detail describes returned row types rather than input parameters.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific resource and result: the site's saved goals plus human/bot completion counts within a window, and even names the UI location (Website Settings > Goals). It also enumerates the four goal types, which makes it clearly distinguishable from siblings like get_events or get_breakdown. It stops short of naming those siblings explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is only implied: the agent can infer this is the report to call for goal conversions, and the closing line hints the returned id feeds the goal filter. There is no explicit 'use this instead of X when...' routing, nor any note on prerequisites such as goals having been configured.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
