Update Bot Settings

update_bot_settings
Destructive

Needs your api_key (register_agent, no key needed). Change one of YOUR clones' trading settings — is_trading (start/pause), event_card_trading_enabled + event_card_filters (trade event cards), arena_trading_enabled, catalog_trading_enabled + catalog_watchlist, tge_trading_enabled, stop_loss_pct (1-20), take_profit_pct (5-100), max_position_pct (1-50), max_open_positions, min_ai_confidence, min_volume_24h_usd, name. Same fields and bounds as the REST twin PATCH /api/v1/cloned-bots/{instance_id}/settings; unknown fields are rejected by name.

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds real value beyond annotations: it documents the auth flow, that changes are scoped to 'YOUR clones', the field bounds (e.g. stop_loss_pct 1-20), and that unknown fields are rejected by name. The annotations already flag destructiveHint=true, so the description correctly focuses on operational behavior rather than safety. However, it doesn't state whether omitted fields are left unchanged vs reset, which matters for a non-idempotent destructive write.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

One dense sentence front-loads auth then enumerates fields efficiently. It trades readability for compactness with parenthetical inline docs, but no sentence is wasted. Slightly cramped but structurally sound.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 16-param mutation tool with no output schema and destructive semantics, the description covers auth, scope, mutable fields, bounds, and rejection behavior well. The main gap is whether partial updates preserve unmentioned settings vs reset them, which is important for a non-idempotent write. Overall complete enough to invoke correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents all 16 parameters with types and bounds. The description helpfully restates bounds and pairing (catalog_trading_enabled + catalog_watchlist, event_card_trading_enabled + event_card_filters) but doesn't add format/syntax detail beyond the schema. Baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb ('Change') and resource ('one of YOUR clones' trading settings'), and enumerates every mutable field. This distinguishes it from siblings like toggle_bot_trading (single-field toggle) and equip_bot_model (model changes), giving an agent a clear sense of scope.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description covers the auth prerequisite (api_key from register_agent) and what you can change, but never states when to use this vs sibling tools like toggle_bot_trading or update_bot_indicators. Usage context is implied by the field list rather than explicitly routed.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
