CovaSyn Chemistry Tools

covasyn_job_result

Fetch the result of an async GPU job (returned by a long-running tool).

Some GPU tools return a ``job_id`` instead of an inline result because the
computation runs too long for one response (e.g. chemreason_retrosynthesis).
Call this with that job_id; if it is not ready, re-call every ~20 seconds
until ``status`` is ``completed`` or ``failed``.

Parameters:
job_id: The id returned by the submitting tool, e.g. "chemreason:abc123".

Returns: {status: running|completed|failed, result?, error?}.
FREE — never costs credits.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden and does well: it discloses the async nature, the polling cadence, the terminal states, and that the call is FREE and never costs credits. It omits auth/permission behavior and what a 'failed' job implies for retries, keeping it just short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then organized into Parameters and Returns blocks. The polling cadence sentence is high-value; the Returns line partially duplicates the output schema, but overall the structure is efficient and scannable.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For an async polling tool this covers the whole workflow: origin of job_id, poll interval, terminal statuses, and cost. An output schema exists so the return-value restatement is optional, and the only substantive gap is the undocumented api_key parameter.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 0%, so the description must compensate. It documents job_id well, including the format example ('chemreason:abc123'), but says nothing about the second parameter api_key (no description in the schema either). Half the parameters remain undocumented, so this is only partial compensation.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

First sentence gives a specific verb and resource ('Fetch the result of an async GPU job') and ties it to the job_id produced by long-running tools. It never distinguishes itself from sibling covasyn_job_detail or covasyn_jobs, so an agent must guess which of the three to call, but the purpose itself is unambiguous.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It states exactly when to use it (a submitting tool returned a job_id instead of an inline result), the polling protocol (re-call every ~20 seconds), and the termination condition (status completed or failed). It gives no guidance against covasyn_job_detail/covasyn_jobs, which is the only real gap.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
