Set what the site’s own events mean

cvl_set_event_meaning
Destructive

Set the meaning of events this site sends (their names from cvl_event_meanings, at most 50), or put them back to the estimate with back_to_estimate:true. A PREVIEW unless the call says dry_run:false: without it nothing changes, and the answer says how many events would change, how many are kept as they are because a person confirmed them (kept_confirmed: this app never overwrites the owner’s or a teammate’s own confirmation), how many are already so, and the sentence to show the owner. Show the owner that preview and apply only on their yes in the chat, with the same arguments and dry_run:false. Applied, each event is Confirmed — shown in the Traffic room as set by this app — and the answer gives undo: the exact call that puts the events back to the estimate (it previews too, without dry_run:false). It changes which events are offered as funnel steps and which are named in the unmapped-conversion warning; it changes nothing on the site or in what is tracked.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
eventsYesThe events, by the name cvl_event_meanings gives, at most 50.
fieldsNoTop-level keys to keep, e.g. ["kpis"]: envelope keys, not metric names.
dry_runNotrue (the default): only say what would change. false: apply — only after the owner said yes to the preview.
meaningNoWhat the events mean. Give meaning or back_to_estimate, not both.
back_to_estimateNotrue: put the events back to the estimate instead of setting a meaning.

Output Schema

undoNoThe exact call that puts the changed events back to the estimate; null when nothing changed.
skillNoThe skill that is the playbook for this tool: read it first with read_with (name as given). next opens it.

dry_runNo
meaningNoThe meaning set; null when putting events back to the estimate.

set_by_nameNo
meaning_nameNo
would_changeNo

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Far exceeds the annotations (destructiveHint=true, readOnlyHint=false): it discloses kept_confirmed semantics — the app never overwrites an owner's or teammate's confirmation — what the preview response contains, that applied events become Confirmed and appear in the Traffic room, that an undo call is returned, and precisely what side effects do and do not occur (funnel steps and unmapped-conversion warnings change; the site and tracking do not).

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the core action, then the preview/apply protocol and side effects. It is dense and nearly every clause carries information, though the double framing of preview ('A PREVIEW unless…' plus 'without it nothing changes') is slightly redundant and the run-on sentence structure takes effort to parse.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a destructive, confirmation-gated mutation with an output schema, the description covers the full agent-relevant loop: preview, human approval, apply, resulting state, and the undo call. Nothing needed to invoke it safely is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so events, meaning, back_to_estimate, and dry_run are already documented in the schema, including the meaning/back_to_estimate exclusivity. The description adds contextual framing (the 50 cap, back_to_estimate meaning 'restore the estimate') but no syntax or format detail beyond the schema, and it says nothing about the 'fields' envelope parameter.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource — setting the meaning of the site's own events, named via cvl_event_meanings, capped at 50 — plus the inverse operation (back_to_estimate). It is clearly distinguishable from neighbors like cvl_set_form_purpose or cvl_set_capture, and the scope ('the site's own events', not tracking) is stated explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit when-to-use protocol: the call is a preview unless dry_run:false, the preview must be shown to the owner, and the apply happens only on the owner's yes in chat with identical arguments. It also names the alternative path (back_to_estimate:true) and the source of event names (cvl_event_meanings).

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
