Confirm topics

confirm_topics
Destructive

Save the topic plan the user agreed to after preview_topics, in one change: create the topics they kept or added (each with the offerings preview_topics listed for it, or none), rename and delete existing ones. A deleted topic's prompts stay tracked without a topic. Runs at once and returns the project's topics with their ids for generate_prompts; refused if a named topic is not in this project or two topics would share a name.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
createNoTopics to create: name, and offerings as preview_topics listed them (the project's saved offerings).
deleteNoIds of existing topics to delete.
renameNoExisting topics to rename: id from existing_topics, and the new name.
project_idYesA project id that list_projects returned.

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes meaningfully beyond the annotations: it discloses that a deleted topic's prompts survive without a topic (the concrete consequence of a destructiveHint=true call), that it runs synchronously, and that it is refused on unknown topic names or duplicate names. Not covered: whether a failure is all-or-nothing, and the 50-item caps the schema enforces.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two sentences, action-first, with the workflow anchor (after preview_topics) front-loaded and the return/error details trailing. Dense but each clause carries information; the parenthetical about offerings is slightly awkward but not wasteful.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description correctly states the return value (project topics with ids, for generate_prompts), which is exactly what an agent needs to chain. The main residual gap is failure granularity on a non-idempotent, destructive batch of up to 50 creates/renames/deletes.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description adds real meaning: offerings must match what preview_topics listed (or be omitted entirely), and rename/delete operate on existing topics identified by id. That links the arrays to their origin and clarifies optionality beyond the field descriptions.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource — saving a topic plan as one change — and immediately enumerates the three sub-actions (create, rename, delete). Naming preview_topics as the source plan and generate_prompts as the consumer distinguishes it cleanly from create_topic, rename_topic, and delete_topic.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly anchors usage to the workflow: 'after preview_topics', which tells an agent exactly when this fires. However, it never explains when to prefer the single-operation siblings (create_topic, rename_topic, delete_topic) over this batch call, so the choice between batch and granular paths is left to inference.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
