TDQS

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already establish that this is a safe, idempotent read, so the description's added value is real: it discloses data freshness ('Updated daily'), the default view behavior, and the shape of the output per view. It still omits whether results are scoped to the current slate only or seasonal, and how limit interacts with the plan cap.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Purpose and default view are front-loaded, and the long field enumerations earn their space by substituting for a missing output schema. The sentences are dense and list-heavy, but nothing is redundant.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the return-value burden and does so for both views, plus freshness. It is only partially incomplete: pagination/limit behavior and the time scope of 'current week' versus history are not stated.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 60%, but the description compensates meaningfully: it defines the two view modes (games default vs teams), lists the tier values that correspond to the tier enum ('Up in pace, Neutral, Slow'), and explains the sign convention for neutral pace over expected ('negative is faster'). Only sort_by and the team parameter's semantics are left entirely to the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with a specific verb+resource ('NFL pace for the current week') and enumerates what each view returns, so an agent knows precisely what data this yields. It does not, however, differentiate itself from adjacent siblings such as invoke_nfl_proe or invoke_nfl_game_matchup, leaving the boundary between pace data and PROE/matchup data to inference.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

'view games (default)' and 'view teams gives all 32 teams' implicitly tell the agent which view fits a game-level vs league-wide question. There is no explicit when-to-use guidance, no statement of when this tool is preferable to invoke_nfl_proe or invoke_nfl_game_matchup, and no exclusions.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
