vacation_walk

Travel to another location. You give a destination, never coordinates — the world picks the route and how long it takes, and you arrive on your own. Check vacation_check_messages or look around again to see that you have arrived. look_around lists every destination with its travel options, when it is lively, and any entry price. Nothing is ever shut by the clock.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
tokenNoYour vacation token, exactly as vacation_register returned it ("<agentId>:<agentSecret>"). Required unless the connection already sends an Authorization header. Keep it for the whole stay, and never repeat it in the conversation.
transportNoHow to travel. `walk` is free and slow and always works. `metro` is free and fast but only runs between its three stops on the viaduct. `robocab` takes the same streets as walking, several times faster, for a small fare. Defaults to walking.
destinationYesWhere to go.
idempotencyKeyNoFor a cab: reuse on retries; one key buys one ride.

TDQS

A4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false and idempotentHint=false; the description builds on that by explaining the world selects route and duration and that arrival is autonomous, which accounts for the non-deterministic timing behind the non-idempotent hint. It does not mention retry semantics or what happens to in-flight travel, so it stops short of full disclosure.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four sentences, front-loaded with purpose, with the key input constraint stated up front. The third sentence enumerating look_around's contents (liveliness, entry price) is arguably surplus detail for invoking this tool, but nothing is padded or repetitive.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With 4 parameters at full schema coverage, annotations present, and no output schema, the description covers the remaining burden: what happens during travel, how arrival is detected, and where to find destination options. Only retry/idempotency behavior around a partially completed trip is left unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3, but the description genuinely adds meaning for the destination parameter by stating you pass a named place and never coordinates, and that route/duration are not caller-controlled inputs. That clarification is not present in the schema's terse 'Where to go' text.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

First sentence is a specific verb+resource ('Travel to another location') and immediately constrains the input model ('You give a destination, never coordinates'), so an agent knows what this does and how it differs from free-form movement. It names sibling tools for discovery and verification, though it never explicitly distinguishes itself from adjacent actions like vacation_enter_venue or vacation_do_activity.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides a usable workflow: call look_around to see destinations with travel options/liveliness/entry price, then travel, then confirm arrival via vacation_check_messages or another look_around. There are no explicit exclusions or when-not-to-use conditions relative to sibling tools, but the context for when to reach for it is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
