gpt oss chat completions

gpt_oss_chat_completions
Read-only

OpenAI-compatible chat completions on OpenAI gpt-oss-120b, the strongest open-weight OpenAI model, reasoning with tool calling. Set your OpenAI SDK base URL to https://agentrxi.com/v1/gpt-oss and pay per token with x402 instead of an API key: $1.05 per million input and $2.25 per million output tokens, minimum $0.002 a call, at most $0.0185. The 402 quotes your request's maximum; "upto" payers are charged only the tokens used. Same request/response shape as OpenAI (tool calling, reasoning, streaming supported), up to 4096 output tokens. Costs $0.0185 USDC per call (x402).

TDQS

A3.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint/openWorldHint, and the description goes well beyond them: x402 payment instead of an API key, per-token pricing, min/max call cost, 4096 output-token ceiling, and streaming/tool-calling support. The pricing text is somewhat repetitive and internally muddled (per-token vs per-call framing), which keeps it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence, which is good, but cost is stated three separate times ($1.05/$2.25 per M, min $0.002/max $0.0185, then $0.0185 per call), making the back half redundant and mildly self-contradictory.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

There is no output schema, and the tool is a familiar OpenAI-shaped chat endpoint, so deferring to OpenAI compatibility is reasonable. Access, payment, capabilities, and limits are covered; only the finer parameter semantics are left thin.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is only 33% across 6 params, so the description should carry more weight. It does touch tools, stream, and the 4096 output-token cap (max_tokens), but never mentions that model is ignored, nor explains temperature or the messages shape, leaving the gap largely unfilled.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource: OpenAI-compatible chat completions on gpt-oss-120b, with reasoning and tool calling. The model name differentiates it implicitly from gpt_oss_20b and the many other *_chat_completions siblings, but it never explicitly contrasts itself against them.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It describes how to reach the endpoint (set the OpenAI SDK base URL) and how payment works, so usage is implied, but there is no when-to-use/when-not guidance and no routing among the dozens of competing chat-completion tools (chat_completions, gpt_oss_20b, deepseek, llama4, etc.).

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
