deepseek chat completions

deepseek_chat_completions
Read-only

OpenAI-compatible chat completions on DeepSeek V4 Flash, fast and inexpensive frontier model with tool calling and a 1M-token context. Set your OpenAI SDK base URL to https://agentrxi.com/v1/deepseek and pay per token with x402 instead of an API key: $0.88 per million input and $2.64 per million output tokens, minimum $0.002 a call, at most $0.0740. The 402 quotes your request's maximum; "upto" payers are charged only the tokens used. Same request/response shape as OpenAI (tool calling, reasoning, streaming supported), up to 8192 output tokens. Costs $0.0740 USDC per call (x402).

A3.9/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With annotations covering only the readOnly/openWorld safety profile, the description carries the real behavioral burden and does so richly: per-token pricing, minimum and maximum per-call cost, the x402 payment model versus an API key, 402 quoting semantics, 'upto' billing behavior, and the 8192 output-token cap. These are exactly the traits an agent needs before invoking a paid endpoint and are absent from the structured fields.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded and information-dense: what the model is, how to pay, what the request shape is. It loses a point for redundancy, restating the price ceiling twice ('at most $0.0740' then 'Costs $0.0740 USDC per call') and repeating the OpenAI-compatibility claim.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 6-parameter chat endpoint with no output schema, the description covers capabilities (tool calling, reasoning, streaming), context window, output cap, billing and request shape adequately; 'same request/response shape as OpenAI' supplies the return-value contract. Gaps are minor: no error behavior beyond 402 and no guidance on streaming vs non-streaming responses.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is only 33% (model and tools documented; stream, messages, max_tokens, temperature bare). The description adds meaning for max_tokens ('up to 8192 output tokens'), streaming ('streaming supported') and confirms model is ignored, which compensates somewhat, but temperature and messages syntax remain unexplained in both places.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('chat completions') and pins the exact model ('DeepSeek V4 Flash, fast and inexpensive frontier model'), which is what separates it from deepseek_pro_chat_completions and the wider chat_completions family. However, it never explicitly routes the agent between this and its many sibling model endpoints, leaving the choice to inference.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied rather than stated: 'Set your OpenAI SDK base URL to ...' describes how to call it, and 'fast and inexpensive...1M-token context' hints at when it fits. There is no explicit when-to-use/when-not guidance and no comparison against deepseek_pro_chat_completions or the generic chat_completions, so the agent must infer routing.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
