Get Statement Checks

get_statement_checks
Read-onlyIdempotent

Each imported bank statement against the books: the statement's period, its opening and closing balance as printed, the book balance on the statement's end date, the difference and whether they agree. Use this to answer 'does the bank agree?', 'what was the closing balance in March?', or before quoting any reconciliation difference. Optional bank_account_id.

TDQS

A4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/idempotent/closed-world safety, so the description is freed to add behavioral value — and it does, explaining that values are computed comparisons (printed statement balance vs book balance on the end date) with a derived difference and agreement flag. It stops short of noting pagination, volume, or what happens when no statements are imported.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two sentences, front-loaded with what is returned and followed by the routing guidance; every clause carries information and nothing is padded.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description usefully enumerates the returned fields, which is the key missing piece an agent would need. Minor gaps remain around result volume/ordering and multi-account behavior when bank_account_id is omitted.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and both parameters are fully documented there (including the company fallback behavior). The description's 'Optional bank_account_id' merely restates the schema, adding no extra semantics such as valid id formats or behavior when the id does not match an account.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific resource (imported bank statements checked against the books) and enumerates exactly what each result contains: period, printed opening/closing balance, book balance at end date, difference, and agreement flag. It is clearly not a generic reconciliation status tool, though it never names a sibling to differentiate itself explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete trigger questions ('does the bank agree?', 'what was the closing balance in March?') and a precondition ('before quoting any reconciliation difference'). Strong positive guidance, but no explicit exclusions or named alternative such as get_reconciliation_status for an overall view.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
