Save the replies to the people who asked

ideas_replies_save

Save replies you wrote yourself to the people who asked for a feature that is now live, to Assisted posts in the results app, one draft per person (ideas_replies_find finds and writes them; use this only when the founder asks you to write one): each url one of ideas_replies' targets, one per thread, the text written to what that person said (X 280 characters as X counts them, links 23). Two replies that say much the same thing are refused. Returns the Assisted posts link, where each draft opens X's reply box filled in, or the Reddit thread to paste it in. The founder posts each one from there; you never open X or Reddit for them. Nothing is posted. Free.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With annotations already covering the safety profile (readOnlyHint=false, destructiveHint=false), the description adds valuable context: one draft per person, duplicate replies are refused, the character-count rule, and crucially that 'Nothing is posted' and the founder posts each one. This clarifies the non-destructive write more than the annotations alone.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Single prolonged run-on sentence stacked with parentheticals and nested clauses. It is front-loaded with the verb, but the middle is dense enough that the reader must re-parse the draft/limit/posting rules, hurting scanability.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, and the description fills that gap by explaining the return value (the Assisted posts link that opens X's reply box, or the Reddit thread). Combined with limits, duplicate refusal, and posting behavior, an agent has enough to invoke it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

At 50% schema coverage, the description compensates by explaining that each url must be one of ideas_replies' targets (one per thread) and that text is what the person said, bounded by X's 280-character counting with links counted as 23. It adds real constraints beyond the bare schema for the undocumented text field.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Save) and resource (replies you wrote yourself to the people who asked for a live feature), and explicitly distinguishes itself from the sibling ideas_replies_find ('finds and writes them'). The core action is clear, though the dense run-on phrasing makes the boundaries of the task slightly harder to extract than a crisp one-liner would.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit when-to-use condition ('use this only when the founder asks you to write one') and names the alternative tool (ideas_replies_find) that finds and writes replies instead. It stops short of a full when/when-not matrix but routes the agent to the correct sibling.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
