Lovie Company Formation

Update Account Display Name

account_update_account_display_name

Renames a Lovie account for display; the rename is also applied at the bank that holds the account, so an error can mean the bank refused it and the name is unchanged. A linked account is refused. Set account_id to the id of the account to rename - get it from list_accounts, never from the conversation alone, and say which account you are renaming before you call this. Report the name the call returned, not the one you sent. Requires the banking.account.update permission.

A4.9/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations, it discloses the external bank-side effect, the bank-refusal failure mode with the name left unchanged, linked-account rejection, and the required banking.account.update permission. These details provide unusually useful side-effect, failure, authorization, and result-reporting context.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four compact sentences front-load the action and its most consequential external side effect, then cover rejection, invocation workflow, result reporting, and authorization. Nearly every clause supplies operational information without repetition or filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a two-parameter mutation with an output schema, the definition covers scope, external effects, exclusions, safe ID acquisition, pre-call identification, error interpretation, permission requirements, and post-call behavior. The schema supplies the UUID and name constraints, leaving no material completeness gap aside from the minor identifier naming mismatch.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The schema already documents both parameters, while the description adds valuable provenance and safety semantics for the account ID by requiring list_accounts as its source. However, it calls the parameter account_id rather than the actual schema property accountId and adds little about displayName beyond the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description uses a specific verb and resource—"Renames a Lovie account for display"—and clarifies the operation's scope by stating that the rename also propagates to the bank holding the account. This distinguishes it from account retrieval, listing, and freeze/unfreeze siblings.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It provides a concrete invocation workflow: obtain the ID from list_accounts rather than conversation alone and identify the account before calling. It also states an explicit exclusion for linked accounts and instructs the agent to report the returned name afterward.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
