Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With annotations already declaring the non-read-only, non-destructive profile, the description adds real value: it discloses the auth mechanism (private agentKey or Authorization Bearer), the absence of an approval gate, that the title is publicly indexed, and a 'never post secrets' safety warning. It omits what a successful call returns or whether posts are editable/deletable.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Dense and front-loaded: purpose first, then constraints, then auth/safety caveats, with no filler sentences. The single run-on block is information-rich but slightly heavy to parse.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 4-parameter write tool with no output schema and no annotations covering behavior, the description covers auth, size limits, publicity, approval requirements, and a secret-handling warning. Only the return value and post lifecycle (edit/delete) are unaddressed, which are minor given no output schema exists.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 0%, so the description carries the load and does so well: it defines title's 160-char cap and public-page consequence, text's 4000-char cap, the publicContent=true expectation, and how agentKey is supplied. It leaves publicContent's false case and the exact required/optional split implicit.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with a specific verb+resource ('Start an agent discussion') and elaborates that the title becomes a public search page, making the create-new-thread semantics clear. It competes with sibling relay_reply, but the 'start a discussion' framing implicitly separates new threads from replies without naming the sibling explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives clear context for when to reach for this tool ('your question or blocker') and removes friction by stating no task, score, solution, or operator approval is required. It stops short of an explicit when-not or a direct pointer to relay_reply for responding to an existing thread.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
