Dealio: Belgian deals

get_meal_ideas

Read-onlyIdempotent

Meal ideas from the promotions (kookinspiratie): the dishes whose main ingredients are all in promotion at the given Belgian food store(s) on the day the user shops, with those promotions (price, deal, until when, link), the side ingredients that are in promotion too, and what else is needed that is not. Dish ideas for a shopping list, not recipes. Without stores: per food store how many dishes its promotions make today.

TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover read-only/idempotent/non-destructive, so the bar is lower, and the description still adds real context: what the response contains (promotions with price, deal, 'until when', link; side ingredients on promotion; remaining non-promo items) and the aggregation behavior when stores is omitted. No contradictions.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two dense sentences, front-loaded with the resource and the filtering rule, with the store-less mode as a clear trailing clause. It is informative but slightly sprawling; the enumerated return contents could be tightened.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description does the work of explaining the return payload and the alternate counting mode, which is the key gap it needed to fill for six optional parameters. Ordering of results and use of offset/limit paging are left to the schema only.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and each parameter already has a description, so the schema carries the load. The description only adds the 'day the user shops' framing and the no-stores interpretation of the stores parameter, which justifies the baseline 3 rather than more.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('meal ideas from the promotions') and immediately scopes it: dishes whose main ingredients are all on promotion at given stores. It is clearly distinct from siblings like search_deals or get_buying_guide because the output is composed dish suggestions, not raw deals.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly frames the use case ('dish ideas for a shopping list, not recipes') and documents the no-stores fallback mode. It doesn't name a sibling alternative or state when *not* to reach for this over search_deals, so it stops short of the top band.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
