Meta Ads: Ad preview

meta_ad_preview
Read-only

Weitere z. B. INSTAGRAM_STANDARD (Instagram-Feed), FACEBOOK_STORY_MOBILE, DESKTOP_FEED_STANDARD.

A4.8/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and openWorldHint=true, but the description adds substantial behavior: preview URLs expire, open without Facebook login or ad-account access, video previews include sound, and video ads get storyboard frames. It also discloses fallback behavior when no video is found, partial failures for unsupported formats, and the foreign_object error for ad_id mismatches.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is long, but it is front-loaded with purpose and then explains output and parameters for a complex tool with no output schema. Every section adds useful information, and the parameter notes are grouped clearly at the end rather than scattered.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given no output schema, 0% schema description coverage, and a complex preview/storyboard response, the description is highly complete. It explains returned preview URLs, images, storyboard behavior, error cases, and all input parameters, leaving little ambiguity for invocation.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters5/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0%, so the description must carry parameter semantics. It documents all four parameters: ad_id source and workspace constraint, formats range/default/examples and per-entry error behavior, frames range/default and the special meaning of 0, and optional workspace slug.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: previewing a Meta ad as it appears in placements. It also distinguishes this from meta_list_ads by explaining that its preview links differ from preview_link and are suitable for sharing. An agent can identify the tool's purpose without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear usage contexts: checking before launch or showing a client for approval. It explicitly names the related alternative, preview_link from meta_list_ads, and explains why this tool is preferable for sharing. It does not state explicit when-not-to-use conditions, so it is strong but not fully exhaustive.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
