get_ungate_status

Status + outcome of an ungate job. Status is queued | in_progress | completed | failed | expired; outcome (when set) is approved, already_approved, documents_required, not_accepting_applications, login_required or unknown.

While status is 'queued' or 'in_progress', CALL THIS AGAIN after a short
wait (e.g. 20-40s) — the job is processed by the user's extension serially.
For 'documents_required' the response also includes Amazon's requirements
text, a `suppliers` list for the brand/category, and `suggested_asins`
(easier wins in the same brand). For 'login_required', tell the user to log
into Seller Central and retry.

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden and does so well: it discloses that jobs are processed serially by the user's extension, the polling cadence, and what extra fields (requirements text, suppliers, suggested_asins) appear for specific outcomes. It omits auth/rate-limit specifics but the branch-by-branch return behavior is unusually thorough.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the status/outcome enumerations that an agent needs first, followed by polling guidance and per-outcome handling. Every sentence is actionable, though the block is longer than strictly minimal.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

No output schema exists, and the description compensates by describing the returned status/outcome and the conditional fields for each outcome, which is more than adequate for calling and interpreting the tool. Only the job_id provenance is left unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The single job_id parameter has 0% schema description coverage and the description never explains its format or where it comes from (presumably request_ungate_check). The overall context makes the parameter's meaning inferable, but no explicit semantic value is added beyond the tool's purpose.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Status + outcome of an ungate job') and then enumerates the exact state machine (queued | in_progress | completed | failed | expired) and outcome values, so an agent knows precisely what this returns and how it differs from siblings like request_ungate_check or get_ungate_suppliers.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives concrete usage context: poll again after 20-40s while queued/in_progress, and specific follow-up actions for documents_required and login_required outcomes. It stops short of naming an alternative tool or an explicit when-not-to-call condition, so it falls just under the full 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
