Create concept

create_concept

Creates a content concept (idea/brief) in a workspace's ideation bank (Library → Concepts). Requires Concepts to be turned on for the account (Settings → Advanced). New concepts land in the 'idea' column by default. Pass due_date to plan it onto a day in the content calendar. Use list_workspaces to resolve workspace_id.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
tagsNoOptional tag list for filtering.
titleYesShort title (required, max 200 chars).
statusNoOptional starting column: idea (default), draft, scheduled, published, archived.
captionNoOptional default caption. Copies straight into the video draft when the concept is converted.
due_dateNoOptional planned date (YYYY-MM-DD). The concept shows as an idea placeholder on that day in the content calendar.
platformsNoOptional list of platform slugs the concept targets (e.g. ['instagram','tiktok']).
descriptionNoFreeform notes / brief / voice-transcribed idea. Optional. Surfaced in the UI as 'Notes'.
content_typeNoOptional format: video, image, carousel, text, or other. Leave unset for a fresh idea that hasn't committed to a format.
workspace_idYesWorkspace to add the concept to. Get from list_workspaces. Caller must be a member.
idempotency_keyNoOptional client-generated key (e.g., a UUID) to make retries safe. Identical calls with the same key within 10 minutes return the original result instead of running the write twice.

A3.9/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=false, destructiveHint=false and openWorldHint=false, so the write/safety profile is structured. The description adds real value beyond that – a feature-flag precondition that will fail the call if Concepts is off, the default landing column ('idea'), and the calendar side effect of due_date. It stops short of describing the return payload or what errors look like, so it is good but not rich.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the core action and resource, then adds the prerequisite and the two usage patterns. Slightly redundant with the schema on due_date and workspace_id, but no sentence is wasted.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 10-parameter mutation with no output schema, the definition covers the prerequisite, the default state, and the calendar behavior. A hint about what is returned (e.g. a concept id for later update_concept calls) would close the remaining gap.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and every parameter carries its own description, so the baseline is 3. The description largely restates schema content (due_date planning, workspace_id lookup) rather than adding new meaning, though it does reinforce the default 'idea' status.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Specific verb ('Creates') plus concrete resource ('content concept / idea / brief') and its location (ideation bank → Library → Concepts). Clearly distinct from list_concepts (read), update_concept (modify), and create_post_drafts_from_concept (conversion), so an agent can route correctly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives the prerequisite (Concepts must be enabled in Settings → Advanced) and a routing hint (use list_workspaces to resolve workspace_id), plus the planning pattern via due_date. It does not, however, say when to prefer create_post_draft or create_post_drafts_from_concept over this tool, so the sibling discrimination is only partial.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
