Get ID verification link

get_verification_link
Destructive

Get the next step for verifying the user's identity and work permits on Himalayas (the verified badge): whether they are verified, and otherwise the Stripe Identity link (when verification is included, as on Plus or Max) or a US$5 checkout link. Use it when the user wants to get verified: when verification is included, this starts it (a Plus or Max member's included verification is then used for 30 days). A passport or national ID verifies identity and the work permit for that country; other IDs verify identity only. get_my_profile shows whether they are verified. The user opens each link and does the verification or payment on Stripe themselves. Uses the connected Himalayas account; no extra sign-in needed.

A4.6/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already flag destructiveHint=true and readOnlyHint=false; the description explains WHY by disclosing the side effect that an included verification is consumed for 30 days when started, and clarifies that the user performs verification/payment on Stripe themselves. It also notes auth context ('connected Himalayas account; no extra sign-in needed'). It stops short of describing pagination/format, but adds meaningful behavior beyond the annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The core purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence, and each subsequent sentence adds routing, side-effect, or auth detail. It is dense but largely earns its length, with only mild redundancy in the closing sentences.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema and no parameters, the description fully carries the burden: it enumerates the possible return outcomes (verified, Stripe Identity link, $5 checkout link) and the conditions that select each. Nothing needed to call it correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The schema has zero parameters, so there is nothing to document; baseline 4 applies. No parameter guidance is needed or missing.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource: it returns the next step for verifying identity and work permits, being either a status, a Stripe Identity link, or a $5 checkout link. It clearly delineates itself from get_my_profile (status only) and from the other get_*_link siblings by naming the exact resource it produces.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicit when-to-use: 'Use it when the user wants to get verified.' It also names the alternative (get_my_profile) for checking status, and explains the conditional behavior (verification included on Plus/Max starts the process; otherwise a checkout link).

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
