Reply in a Teasa story

send_message
Idempotent

Send the user’s chosen action or dialogue to Teasa inference. Replies automatically use the language saved by start_story; no language parameter is needed on later turns. Pass the guestSession from start_story unless connected with OAuth. Uses their guest or signed-in Teasa allowance. Reuse clientMessageId and identical input on retries. Never invent or submit a user action without their instruction. A pending turn must be polled with get_turn; do not send another message to finish it.

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations by disclosing language inheritance from start_story, credential handling for guestSession, consumption of the user's Teasa allowance, and an idempotency contract (reuse clientMessageId with identical input on retries). It also surfaces the non-obvious constraint that a pending turn must be resolved via get_turn, which no annotation conveys.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Five tight sentences with the core action front-loaded and each subsequent sentence carrying a distinct operational rule. No restatement of the title or filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Return values are covered by the output schema and the mutation/idempotency profile is well documented. The remaining shortfall is the undocumented concurrency and enum-selection parameters, which an agent must infer before a safe call.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is only 14%, and the description fills in guestSession conditions and clientMessageId retry semantics plus the absence of a language parameter. However, it says nothing about expectedBranchVersion (clearly an optimistic-concurrency token), branchId, or how to choose among the model and output enums, leaving the highest-risk parameters unexplained.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a concrete verb and resource ('Send the user's chosen action or dialogue to Teasa inference') and immediately frames the tool's place in the turn lifecycle relative to start_story and get_turn. An agent can distinguish it from all four siblings without opening a schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives explicit when-to-use and when-not-to-use rules: pass guestSession unless OAuth, poll a pending turn with get_turn rather than sending another message, and never submit an action the user did not instruct. Alternatives and prerequisites are named outright.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
