GetUploadLinkStatus

Read back an upload link created by CreateUploadLink: whether it is still open, closed or expired, the asset_h of every file uploaded through it, and, if you passed expected_sha1, which digests matched, are missing or were unexpected. Use the returned asset_h values with AddToCollection, UpdateAsset and GetAssetDetails. Poll after asking the user to upload; do not assume the files arrived.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
tenant_idNoOptional: UUID of the tenant. Omit it: the server uses the tenant your credential (OAuth connection or API key) is bound to. A tenant_id that differs from the credential's tenant is rejected.
upload_link_idYesThe upload_link_id returned by CreateUploadLink.

TDQS

A4.2/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the burden and does well: it discloses that status can be open, closed or expired, that asset_h values are returned per file, and that polling is required rather than assuming completion. It omits auth/permission notes and whether results are cached or eventually consistent, so it falls short of fully rich behavioral disclosure.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the read-back purpose, then chaining guidance, then the polling warning; every sentence earns its place. The first sentence is dense with an embedded colon-list, which slightly reduces scannability but does not waste words.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

There is no output schema and no annotations, so the description must explain return values and it does: status enumeration, asset_h values per file, and conditional digest results. It also supplies the workflow (poll, then feed asset_h to AddToCollection/UpdateAsset/GetAssetDetails), leaving nothing essential missing for correct invocation.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so both tenant_id and upload_link_id are already fully documented and the baseline is 3. The description restates upload_link_id's origin (already in the schema) and mentions expected_sha1, which is not a parameter of this tool, so it adds output-variability context rather than new input-parameter meaning.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Read back an upload link created by CreateUploadLink') and enumerates exactly what is read: open/closed/expired status, asset_h per uploaded file, and digest comparison results. No sibling tool in the list covers upload links, so it is trivially distinguishable and self-contained.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit trigger ('Poll after asking the user to upload; do not assume the files arrived') and downstream routing ('Use the returned asset_h values with AddToCollection, UpdateAsset and GetAssetDetails'). It does not name an alternative tool for the same job or state when not to call it, but the workflow context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
