Temu Category Search

nexscope_temu_category_search

Search synced Temu category data in the local database by keyword to find category Chinese names, English names, and category IDs for use in product/store filtering. Triggered when users mention Temu categories, Temu category ID, Temu category tree, Temu backend categories, temu categories, syncTemuCategory (Temu category sync) followed by category queries, or Temu category search. Even if the user does not mention the tool name, this skill should be triggered whenever searching for category IDs by keyword in the locally synced Temu category database.

TDQS

C2.9/5.0
Behavior1/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

The description describes a read-only local-database search, but annotations declare readOnlyHint=false and openWorldHint=true. This is a direct inconsistency for a tool whose stated behavior is searching synced local category data and returning category identifiers.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence, but the remaining trigger list is repetitive and keyword-heavy, restating category search triggers and local-database usage in multiple ways.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a simple three-parameter search tool, the description covers the data source and returned fields, and the schema covers pagination. However, it does not explain prerequisites such as syncing, return shape beyond field names, or how it relates to sibling Temu category search tools.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so keyword, page, and pageSize are already documented in the schema. The description adds only that keyword search targets Chinese names, English names, and category ID substrings, which is already present in the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a clear verb and resource: search synced Temu category data in the local database by keyword, returning Chinese names, English names, and category IDs. It does not distinguish this tool from the many sibling Temu category search/list tools, so it is clear but not sibling-differentiated.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives trigger context, including user mentions of Temu categories, category IDs, category tree, and backend categories, and says it is for product/store filtering. However, it provides no explicit when-not-to-use guidance or alternatives among the many existing Temu category search tools.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
