Upload attached media

upload_chatgpt_media

Uploads one native ChatGPT attachment to the connected Magic Hour account: PNG/JPEG/WebP images, MP4/MOV/WebM video, or MP3/WAV/M4A/FLAC/Ogg/WebM audio, up to 20 MiB. Set media_type to the attachment's actual kind, not the requested output: image, video or audio. For multiple references, call separately and keep each returned file_path paired with the intended input. Pass the real attachment through the file parameter; a bare file ID, filename or chat-local path is not the raw MCP file object. Does not generate media or spend generation credits.

TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations mark this as a non-read-only, non-destructive, open-world operation, and the description adds real context beyond them: the size limit, the accepted format families, the returned file_path and the requirement to pair it with the input. The credit note usefully clarifies cost behavior. It does not say what happens on failure or whether re-uploads deduplicate, which keeps it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose, format and size, then constraints and caveats; nearly every sentence carries distinct information. Slightly dense but free of filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a two-parameter upload tool with an output schema, the description covers format, size, parameter typing pitfalls, multi-call pairing and cost semantics. Since return values are documented by the output schema, nothing essential for correct invocation is left out.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 0%, so the description must compensate, and it largely does: it warns that media_type must match the attachment's actual kind rather than the requested output, and it explicitly rules out passing a bare file ID, filename or chat-local path to `file`, which is the main misunderstanding risk for the nested object. The individual nested fields (download_url, file_name, mime_type) are still left to the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('Uploads one native ChatGPT attachment to the connected Magic Hour account') and enumerates supported formats and the 20 MiB ceiling, so an agent knows exactly what this does. It does not name the nearest siblings (upload_chatgpt_image, get_upload_urls), so the boundary with the image-only uploader must be inferred from the format list rather than stated.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear operational guidance: call once per reference, keep each returned file_path paired with its intended input, and note that this does not generate media or spend credits. Missing is an explicit statement of when to prefer upload_chatgpt_image or get_upload_urls instead, so alternative selection is only weakly covered.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
