Last Price

quote_storefront_domain

Get a price for registering a domain for a storefront, held for 15 minutes. A quote costs nothing and registers nothing: only the workspace owner can buy it, in the dashboard. Only where domain search is switched on (else an error with code not_released). Needs a Last Price credential with workspace settings write scope. Needs a claimed workspace: a sandbox key from self-registration is refused (403) until a person claims the workspace.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
yearsNoYears to register. Defaults to 1.
domainYesThe domain to price, such as acme.ai.
storefront_idYesThe storefront id, from list_storefronts.

A4.4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the annotations by disclosing the 15-minute hold window, the no-charge/no-registration semantics, the required Last Price credential with workspace-settings write scope, and the concrete failure modes (not_released error, 403 on unclaimed workspaces). These are exactly the operational facts an agent needs and none are derivable from the annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four short sentences, each carrying distinct and load-bearing information: what the quote is, what it does not do, the environment precondition, and the auth/workspace preconditions. Front-loaded with the core behavior and free of filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description should ideally hint at what a quote returns (price, expiry), but the 15-minute hold implicitly covers expiry and list_storefront_domain_quotes exists as a companion. Auth, failure modes and side-effect semantics are all covered, so the remaining gap is minor.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, with domain, storefront_id and years all documented inline, so the baseline is 3. The description mentions no parameter specifics — notably the optional 'years' (1-10, default 1) is never referenced — so it adds nothing beyond the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a precise verb and resource ('Get a price for registering a domain for a storefront') plus the key scoping trait that the result is held for 15 minutes. This cleanly separates it from siblings like add_storefront_domain (which registers), search_storefront_domains (which discovers) and list_storefront_domain_quotes (which retrieves existing quotes).

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly says the quote 'costs nothing and registers nothing' and that buying happens only via the workspace owner in the dashboard, which steers the agent away from treating this as a purchase. It also lists the preconditions that cause failure (domain search off, missing credential scope, unclaimed sandbox workspace), though it never names an alternative tool by name.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
