Get an AI agent's definition

get_native_bot_definition
Read-onlyIdempotent

Get an AI agent's definition. Returns the whole definition of an AI agent (an agent bot of type native) as one document: its agent settings, every configuration section, its handover areas, its pre-AI rules and its tools. Send it back, edited, to the update endpoint together with the version you read. Administrators only. Requires feature: native_bots.

TDQS

A3.7/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover the safety profile (readOnly, idempotent, non-destructive), so the bar is lower; the description adds real behavioral context beyond them: an authorization constraint (administrators only) and a feature-gate requirement (native_bots), plus the round-trip edit/save pattern that implies the returned version is required for a later update.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The core purpose is front-loaded in the first sentence, and each remaining sentence earns its place by describing return contents and the save-back workflow. The long enumerative second sentence is dense but not padded.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the burden of explaining the return and does so concretely (settings, sections, routes/handover areas, rules, tools). Combined with the version/update workflow and the permission and feature prerequisites, an agent has enough to invoke it correctly, though it lacks comparison to related read tools.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents both 'id' and 'fields' fully, making 3 the baseline. The description references the returned 'version' but adds no syntax or meaning for either parameter beyond what the schema provides.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Get) and resource (an AI agent's definition) and enumerates the exact contents returned: agent settings, configuration sections, handover areas, pre-AI rules, and tools. It scopes the resource to 'an agent bot of type native', which helps disambiguate from neighboring agent-bot tools, though it never names those siblings directly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives a workflow hint (edit the document and send it back to the update endpoint with the version read) and lists two hard prerequisites (Administrators only, native_bots feature). However it never states when to choose this tool over near-siblings like get_details_of_a_single_account_agent_bot or get_inbox_agent_bot, leaving the selection largely implied.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
