Remove Background

remove_background

Cut the main subject out of one of the user's own HalalGen pictures onto a see-through background and return the PNG link. Pass image_id (from list_generations or search_vault) or a link to a picture they made or uploaded on HalalGen; links to other sites are refused. Call without a picture to list their latest ones. Costs credits (see list_models or estimate_cost).

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
image_idNoImage or upload ID from list_generations, search_vault or an earlier tool result.
image_urlNoLink to the user's own picture on HalalGen (https://cdn.halalgen.ai/... or https://api.halalgen.ai/image/...), if you don't have the ID. Other links are refused.

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the annotations, it discloses credit consumption, input validation behavior (links to other sites refused), and the empty-argument listing behavior, plus the output format. It doesn't explicitly say the original picture is left intact, which matters for a non-idempotent mutation, but the safety picture is otherwise well filled in.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three tight sentences: the action and result first, then accepted inputs and the refusal rule, then the no-argument fallback and cost. Nothing is redundant and no sentence could be dropped without losing information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the return-value burden and does so ('return the PNG link'). Combined with cost pointers, input sourcing, and the empty-call behavior, an agent has everything needed to invoke it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and the schema already documents both parameters, including valid URL shapes and the source tools. The description restates the either/or choice and the 'user's own HalalGen' ownership constraint without adding new syntax or format detail, so baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a concrete verb and resource ('cut the main subject out of ... HalalGen pictures onto a see-through background') and names the return artifact (PNG link). It is clearly distinguishable from neighbors like upscale_image, edit_image, and view_image.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It gives explicit selection rules: pass image_id or a HalalGen URL, external links are refused, and calling with no picture lists the user's latest images. It also flags that the call costs credits and points to list_models/estimate_cost for pricing.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
