Submit URLs to Bing for indexing

bing_submit_urls
Idempotent

Ask Bing to crawl and index specific pages now - the step after publishing or updating a page, instead of waiting for Bing to find it. Every URL must be on the site. Bing allows a limited number of submissions per site per day; this checks the remaining quota first and reports what's left. Requires write access on the site in Caybl.ai (refuses cleanly if changes are switched off).

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
urlsYesFull page URLs on this site.
siteUrlNoThe site, as listed by bing_list_sites (e.g. 'https://example.com/'). A bare domain like 'example.com' also works. Only needed when the account has more than one verified site.

TDQS

A4.1/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover readOnly=false, idempotent=true, destructive=false, and openWorld=true. The description adds important operational context: per-site daily submission limits, a quota check before submitting, and a clean refusal when write access or change permission is absent. This is rich behavioral disclosure beyond the structured hints.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four sentences, each earning its place: purpose, timing, site constraint, quota behavior, and permission requirement. The most important routing and safety information is front-loaded and there is no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Complete for the core operation: it explains when to use the tool, the per-site quota check, permission needs, and refusal behavior. It could be stronger by explicitly contrasting with bing_submit_sitemap, but the main invocation context is covered.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the two parameters are fully documented in the schema. The description adds constraints such as URLs needing to be on the site and per-site quota, but does not provide further parameter syntax or formatting guidance. Baseline 3 is appropriate when the schema already carries parameter semantics.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: asking Bing to crawl and index specific pages now. It clarifies this is the post-publish/update step rather than waiting for discovery. It does not explicitly distinguish itself from sibling bing_submit_sitemap, which handles sitemap-based submission.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear usage context: use after publishing or updating a page instead of waiting. Adds prerequisites that every URL must be on the site and that write access is required. It does not name an alternative sibling tool or state when not to use this approach.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
