complete_shared_item

Destructive

Mark an item in an AccountHub shared project (shared project) done, or reopen it with reopen: true — NOT a Slack workspace. A to-do may be completed by its assignee or the active, consented project owner. Owner completion keeps the existing assignee. Completing a request sent to you accepts it first; completing an unassigned to-do makes you its assignee first. Decisions, open questions and notes: the placer, or anyone while unassigned. Every move is recorded with who did it.

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Goes well beyond the single destructiveHint annotation: discloses cascading side effects (completing a request accepts it first; completing an unassigned to-do assigns you first), type-specific permission rules for decisions/questions/notes, that owner completion preserves the assignee, and that every move is audited. This is exactly the behavioural context annotations cannot convey.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the primary action and the Slack disambiguation first, then layers permission and side-effect rules. Dense em-dash construction makes it feel slightly run-on, but nearly every clause carries decision-relevant information and nothing is pure filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 2-parameter mutation with no output schema, the description covers preconditions, side effects and authorization thoroughly. It does not indicate what is returned (e.g., the updated item state) or failure modes like permission denial, which would be the last missing piece.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and both parameters are fully documented in-schema, so the baseline is 3. The description restates the reopen flag's meaning but adds no format/syntax detail beyond what the schema already says.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb+resource ('Mark an item in an AccountHub shared project done, or reopen it') and explicitly negates the most likely confusion ('NOT a Slack workspace') — crucial given the many Slack-named siblings. An agent can tell this apart from update_shared_item or place_shared_item by the completion/reopen semantics.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives clear conditions: who may complete (assignee or active consented project owner), and the reopen flag as the inverse operation. It does not name sibling alternatives (update_shared_item, withdraw_shared_item, respond_to_shared_item) that an agent might confuse it with, which keeps it below a 5.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
